The First Meeting Redux

"When Izayoi Aki heard of the new transfur student, Fudo Yusei, she thought nothing of it. First of all, it was from a gaggle of giggling girls who raved about his smarts and good looks (something she wasn't really interested in). Secound of all, she knew he would probably be like all of her other classmates: fear her. He may be the son of one of the only professors who treated her like normal (and didn't shudder as they remembered sending another student to the Nurse for dueling her), but who was to say he would be like his father?

Perhaps this was why when she was paired up with him for an dueling assingment the burgandy haired girl thought he would work with her and pretend to act friendly while counting down the days he would have nothing to do with her anymore.

Yet, the assingment was passed in several days ago. And here Yusei was, sitting outside one of the study buildings. A small part of her hoped he was waiting for her, after all they were assigned to duel tomorrow, but she squashed that part of her instantly. Why would he anyway? She was a witch who didn't need anyone save one person who had appeared in her life recently. Taking a deep breath she went to walk in-front of him, not sparing him a secound glance until he spoke suddenly.

"What's this I hear about you joining Divine's Arcadia Movement, Izayoi?" He's eyes looking at her seriously over his black rimmed glasses.

At once Aki stopped. How did he know about that?

"Look, I know you've had some trouble in the past but there's no reason why you should join them."

"Oh?" She said cooly. "And what would you know about my... 'troubles' then, Fudo?"

The black haired duelist shook his head.

"I know you have powers that make you think the world is agianst you but you can't hate yourself for that. Besides I wouldn't trust Divine if I were you. That guy... he gives me a bad feeling."

At this Aki's eyes flashed in anger. Her heels clicking as she walked across the pavement.

"What's there to think about? Huh, Yusei?!" She snapped, getting closer to the duelist, putting her hands on his knees so as to get in his face. "You don't know the first thing about Divine, and you don't know the first think about me! Besides, as long as Divine shows me the way and loves me then-!"

"No, you must love yourself!" Yusei interuppted suddenly.

At this Aki was figuratively and literally taken aback. She backed away as her thoughts raced.

Love myself? She thought

If I could do that...

If I could...

No I can't!

"-Can't you see how I'm suffering, Fudo!" She screamed at him, not realizing she had voiced her thoughts aloud and he had heard all with a concerned ear.

Her hands clenched into fists as she looked at him coldly, she could almost feel that damned power beating deep within.

"You will soon." Aki told him suddenly. "Tomorrow you will!"

And with that she turned and left him sitting there. Not knowing that he instantly made the choice to break her out of this forest of thorns that seemed to guard her heart. All she knew was that she instantly hated him. After all...

... The only one who had said something which rocked her to her core was her father. Besides, how can a monster love what she was? "

Ah yes, the first meeting of our Schoolgirl Aki and Schoolboy Yusei. Well... not really the first meeting but oh well

Had to incorporate a bit of the convesation from episode 24 in this intro, mostly because I just love it to death. That and I can't help but get the feeling Yusei would have been telling Aki the same even if he witnessed some of the things in Duel Academy.

But that's just me.
